Raihana, 12, eyes the big time

RAIHANA AQILAH wants to become a squash professional when she grows up. The 12-year-old lass is on the right track, emerging champion in the Negri Sembilan schools Under-12 at Institut Perguruan Raja Melewar (IPRM) in Seremban early this year.
Last weekend, she finished third in the Sukan Negri Sembilan (Suknes) meet at Seremban Two beating Logana Asok Kumar 15-13, 12-14, 12-10.
She had lost to top-seed Zulhijjah Azan 2-11, 4-11 and 5-11 in the semifinals. Raihana, who is a State junior player, trains under Adnan Gul and Mohd Tarmidi Saad at the Rasah Kemayan Club.
She was also the NS Closed Under-11 champion in 2007 and finished a creditable fifth at the Milo International All Stars at Astaka Courts in Petaling Jaya last year.
She swims regularly to build up her stamina. In 2008, Raihana was ranked fourth in the national Under- 11 category.
Raihana said: “I want to achieve good results, make good friends and learn to be patient. I want to play more often against older players. I'm a great fan of Nicol David and Azlan Iskandar.
“I want to win more meets at junior level and to achieve that, I need to work on my strength. My first coach was Choo Chee Yuen, who encouraged me to take up squash.”
Added her coach Adnan: “She is hardworking and has good ball sense. She is also willing to go the extra mile to attain international recognition.

Negri squash players among 24-member team for MSSM meet

NEGRI Sembilan have named a 24-member team, including siblings Rusdina Atiqah Rohaizam and her sister Raihana Aqilah, for the Milo-Malaysian Schools Sports Council (MSSM) squash championships in Kuala Terengganu from March 16 to 20.

Negri Sembilan Schools Sports Council (MSNS) squash technical chairman Mohd Fauzi Othman said the players were named after a one-week centralised training stint at the Raja Melewar Teaching Institute (IPRM).

“We are aiming for three gold medals. We are gunning for Mohd Hannan Tarmidi in the boys’ Under-15 individual event. We also expect the boys’ Under-12 and Under-15 teams to win the gold medals,’’ said Mohd Fauzi.

Last year, Negri Sembilan only managed to win a bronze medal in the boys’ Under-12 age group.
Sister power: Raihana (left) and Rusdina will be playing for Negri Sembilan in the girls’ Under-12 age group in the MSSM championships.

Mohd Fauzi said they were optimistic of a good outing as the players had been impressive in age group competitions.

“The MSSNS also works closely with the Negri Sembilan Squash Racquets Association and State Sports Council in the development programmes,’’ said Mohd Fauzi.

Rusdina, who finish fourth in the girls’ Under-12 group in the MSSNS championships last month, has been playing exceptionally well in local competitions.

Last year, she was the Under-9 champion in the KL Open.

The 10-year-old Rusdina and her sister Raihana train under coaches Adnan Gul and Mohd Tarmidi Saad at the Rasah Kemayan Club in Seremban 2.

Raihana was the NS Closed girls’ Under-11 champion in 2007 and also finished a creditable fifth in the Milo-All Stars International squash championships last year.
Raihana, who is ranked fourth in the Under-11, said she admires Datuk Nicol David and Mohamed Azlan Iskandar.

Squash is only played in 3 of the 7 districts in the state
Not more than 3 Squash Courts are available in a particular area, making it difficult:
to arrange training for all players at the same time
to provide more match play for all players
to organize any competition
to raise the good profile of Squash.

PSNS VISION
To build a Squash Complex of 10 courts by end of 2010
Enhance interest in Squash throughout Negeri Sembilan
To host CIMB & SportExcel Junior circuit each year
Success in producing home grown junior & senior players in 2 years
To organize an ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL SQUASH competition in A YEAR

Love the earth, save your faulty squash ball.

What will you do with the faulty squash ball? Throw it in the dustbin? Ya, I believe all players are doing that. Save the Earth, please recycle it.

Peel it into two, spherical half.

Use it as two ‘absorber stand’ for your laptop. The ‘half-ball’ will create a ‘gap’ for better laptop ventilation.

BINGO!!!! That’s all… simple & environmental friendly.
Easy to carry along with your lappie.
Save your money and more care to your lovely lappie~~~ :D

Why Squash Ball is “better" than the Laptop Cooler?

1. Most laptop cooler have fans, fan will generate vibration & noise which may be harmful to your Hard Disk reading/writing head.
The squash ball is 'nike air' rubber which will absorb your 'punching' (typing) power........ and always in silent. :P

2. The cooler fans are drawing power from your laptop USB port which may cause power instability (fyi, each USB port supply 5V 100/500mA power load. More information please read http://www.girr.org/mac_stuff/usb_stuff.html#current).
The squash ball is just a passive object, no power needed.

3. Too often plug in / pull out of USB devices (here I'm referring to the USB powered fan of the Laptop Cooler) will ‘wear off’ or damage the USB port.

4. The Laptop Cooler is not specially designed for your laptop - every laptop's ventilation hole may be in different position; hence instead of blowing out the ‘hot air’, the laptop cooler may instead ‘push’ the ‘hot air’ back inside the laptop. Correct air flow directions are very important in releasing heat.
The squash ball is just to enhance your existing laptop air flow.

Love the earth, save your faulty squash ball.
